ROSE, Gertrude "Rudie" (Crewe) Passed away on December 3, 2012, at home, in Dorchester. Born on June 3, 1925, she was 87 years old. She is predeceased by her wonderful parents Charles and Gertrude Crewe. They gave Gertrude and her siblings a wholesome and enriching home life in Sandyville, a small coastal fishing village in Newfoundland, Canada. Gertrude grew up with her loving family growing all their own vegetables, doing their own berry picking, tending to their cows, horse, sheep and hens. As a child, she would go out with her dad to help him pull up lobster pots and salmon nets. She would also take a small homemade sled led by a horse and load it up with birch wood, they would saw it, store it, and have birch wood burning in their hall stove to keep them warm and cozy all winter long. What wonderful childhood memories she always held close in her heart. Gertrude is predeceased by her husband Guy Rose whom she married in 1950 when she came to Boston. Devoted mother to Gloria Rose Godfrey of Wisconsin, Douglas and Barbara of Dorchester and Stephen of Quincy. Adoring and sweet grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by 3 sons, Bobby, Max and Richie. Sister of Douglas Crewe and his wife Ada of St. John's, Newfoundland. Sister in law of Phil Saunders of Newfoundland and Barbara Rose of Weymouth. Predeceased by two loving sisters Molly and Melita. Gertrude was loved by all for being so kind and good in the most humble of ways. Her simple and heartfelt acts of thoughtfulness will never be forgotten by anyone who knew her. She will always be remembered for being an angel on earth. If desired, donations can be made in her memory to the Salvation Army, Red Kettle Fund, 25 Shawmut Avenue, Canton, MA 02021. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Her favourite place on earth was anywhere, any place, as long as she was with family. She also looked forward to spending time with her dear friends in the evenings at Sir. John Thompson Manor. She left a print of her heart on all those who were blessed to have met her. "The world was a better place yesterday". She will long be remembered for her unconditional love and her beautiful contagious smile. "Mom we shall miss you so much. The void in our hearts can never be filled again. We love you". She was a most ardent supporter of a child help organization, www.everychildcounts.ca and taught us well how to care for others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Cancer Society or EveryChildcounts. Visitation will take place in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, NS on Tuesday, June 5 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will take place in St. James Anglican Church (at the Rotary) on Wednesday, June 6, 1:30 p.m.

*Remembering KENNETH MORGAN BOBBETT, 1949 – 2003
On March 2, 2003, family, friends, colleagues and former students were deeply saddened by the death of Kenneth Bobbett.
Kenneth was born and educated at Pass Island, Hermitage Bay. He attended Memorial University where he graduated with a B.A.(Ed.) and a B.A. He began his teaching career in Burgeo in 1966 and over the next 30 years taught in Rencontre East, Seal Cove (F. Bay) and Hermitage. He retired in March 1998.
During his teaching career Kenneth touched the lives of numerous students through his simple, easygoing approach to life and learning. He strived to instill in them a thirst for knowledge, a love for reading and an appreciation for literature, especially Shakespeare.
He was actively involved in his community serving terms on the Conher Development Association and the Hermitage-Sandyville Town Council, as well as being an active member of the Hermitage-Sandyville Lions Club.
Kenneth was a determined and dedicated individual as exhibited by his many struggles with sickness during his teaching career and during his few retirement years. He never gave up but faced each obstacle with courage and resolve. The words of the song Too Old to Die Young by Moe Bandy, that he loved to sing and play with his buddies during their many jam sessions speaks best:
Let me watch my children grow,
To see what they become.
Oh, Lord, don’t let the cold wind blow,
‘Till I’m too old to die young.
Kenneth is deeply missed by his loving wide Ida,
daughters Kelly, Tammy, and Jennifer, son Danny,
grandchildren Ethan, Kendra and Danielle, as well as a
large circle of relatives and friends.
